Can you believe it, it is July already. Six months of the year have come and gone. As we take time for vacations and time for ourselves and family, it is also a good time to do a 6 month review on your online presence.

Just like you take your vehicle in for regular maintenance, get six month dental and eye exams we should take a moment and review our online presence. This includes taking a look at your website, social media and any digital marketing programs you have in place.

Below are our recommendations on questions to ask as you conduct a six month online check up.

1) Have your passwords been updated recently?

Capstone suggests monthly updates, if you haven’t updated passwords recently, do it ASAP! Protecting your online security is critical to keep your identity and important safe from hackers.

2) Do your online resources/tools need updating with new products or service offerings?

Is your website and social media platforms communicating your current selection of products and services your business offers? How about old products or services that have been discontinued and should be removed. 

3) Do you need to update your online “intellectual assets”?

Have you updated your logo, your brand message, etc.? Your online assets are a major contributor to your brand story and should be kept up to date so viewers/searchers are familiar with your current brand.

4) Have there been any events, awards or recognitions your business has received in the past six months?

Your online platforms are a great tool to communicate the recognition your business has received.

For example, Capstone client Pond Lake Management was recently interviewed by local T.V. station “Fox 8” about maintaining ponds to help keep them healthy and visually pleasing. Capstone helped showcase this great PR event on Pond Lake Management’s website, YouTube and Social Media accounts.

5) What about links to “offsite” information?

Assist Capstone to stay on top of broken links, let us know if you are aware of any changing source information.

6) Is your contact information still correct?

Have you changed phone numbers, email addresses? We need to make sure customers can reach you when they choose – not just your normal business hours.

Check your contact phone numbers. Is there an appropriate welcoming message on your after hours phone number? Let callers know they have reached the correct phone number when a live person can’t answer the phone.

We also recommend using an email address with your business name in it. It’s one more way to provide credibility for potential customers. Assist Capstone to stay on top of broken links, let us know if you are aware of any changing source information.

7) Are you missing out on online opportunities? Is your website old and outdated?

Should it be updated? Are your highlighting your business on the right Social Media platforms? Do you have a YouTube account? Video is getting all of the attention right now, and YouTube is recognized as the number two search engine on the internet.

What about a Google Business Profile? If you are a local business, serving local customers, an active Google Business Profile account, that is pursuing 5 star reviews can dramatically improve your business online.
